The 2010 TSMSS Annual Conference, just completed at the Omni Hotel in Corpus Christi, was an unqualified success! TSMSS members and guests had a great time in Corpus Chrisit! It was fun, but it was highly educational, too, and offered a tremendous opportunity for registrants to earn CEU credits, visit with peers, and see the latest products from vendors. From the opening keynote to the closing legislative session, registrants were spellbound by the quality and quantity of information shared by a truly spectacular lineup of speakers. While we've not yet assessed the speaker evaluation forms, a quick review of those turned in by registrants confirmed that speakers did an outstanding job and were highly-regarded by registrants. On top of the obvious educational success of the Conference, participants had a great time socializing with one another, visiting with the large number of exhibitors, and taking part in optional activities, such as the Treasure Hunt on Tuesday evening (you'll read more soon!). Online Continuing Education in Medical Staff Services--Basics of Credentialling!!In 2009, El Centro College began to offer a series of affordable online continuing education courses in medical staff services. The first of these courses, Basics of Credentialing, a four-week course, will be offered again beginning April 19 and following that on the third Monday of each month for the foreseeable future. Tuition is $99.00. To register and pay by credit card, call the Continuing Education Division at 214-860-2260 or 214-860-2696 and ask for course number MSST 2000.53102. NAMSS has accredited the program for 10 CEU's. Other courses will be offered at a later date. The textbook, The Medical Staff Services Handbook: Fundamentals and Beyond, by Gassiot, Searcy and Giles, will be used for the course and is available online from Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble. Please note that it takes two weeks to receive the textbook if ordered online. If you have new staff in your department needing in-depth information on credentialing, this course is perfect for them. It is also a good refresher for those of you who need CEU's to maintain your credentials. Don't delay, register today!
